May SOMERNITESCRUISE features Mustangs, a new after Cruise event and
a Fun Run to the dragstrip!
Walmart's Friday Night Block party was absolutely packed! Possible the biggest turnout ever for this popular event. If you haven't made
it to this Friday night tradition, you need to make plans to be there in May!The Opening Day of SomernitesCruise 2008 started alittle wet
but, after lunch the skies cleared and 927 Showcars and trucks, including 126 first-time cruisers from 8 different states help
celebrate our 50th show! We debuted the new rafflecar for '08, that hot red & black 1971 big block Chevelle! We also presented another
raffle prize, a super 24' enclosed car trailer courtesy of Gatormade Trailers! Both were very popular displays all afternoon! The Hotrod
Haulers area was packed with approx. 100 super sharp classic and custom pickups as participants cruised in all afternoon. As the
large spectator crowd checked out all the great rides on display, kids put their hoola-hooping talents on display on the Fountain
Square. The competition was tough and the contestants met the challenge! The new monthly Corn-hole Tournament also kicked off
this month with half the winnings going to charity. Make sure to sign your team up to compete each month!After the Show & Shine,
everyone headed out for some "cruisin' the strip" action! As the temperatures cooled, classics and modern muscle cruised side by
side all night long! A very nice way to close the activities for our first Cruise weekend on 2008! May will be action packed as always! We
will make our first trip to the Dragstrip on the Saturday Morning Fun Run, Mustangs will be featured in Mustang Alley at the Show &
Shine, Sponsored by Alton Blakely Ford of Somerset, !and later, after the cruise out of Downtown, a new, fun event will debut at
Somerset Mall!

7PM-????: Tune Up Cruise-in at Dairy Queen on US 27 (stoplight #6).
If you live locally or are planning on getting to town early, join as we relax and tell some cruisin' tales while enjoying some tasty ice
cream! This is a very relaxing way to kick off the cruisin' weekend.
Friday, May 23rd
Noon-2PM: Early Bird Meet & Greet/Q97 Live Remote from Visitors Center!
1 block west of Kmart on Hwy 80, stop by and say "hi!", FREE Pepsi's and T-shirts along with great classic rock from Q97! Stop by with
your showcars & trucks, we would love to meet you!
6PM-10PM: Wal-Mart's Rock & Roll Block Party at stoplight #13 on US 27!
Bring your classic or hotrod and enjoy fun for the entire family! Door prizes, costume contests, great food, live bands and dancing! Over
250 showcars attend this event each month, don't forget your lawnchairs! VERY POPULAR!
Saturday, May 24th
8:30AM-9:30AM: ***Grand Central Shopping Center, at stoplight #18***
We depart at 9:30AM promptly for the May destination...London Dragway! This is always a very popular Fun Run and for only $15 you
get unlimited timed,runs down the strip! Spectators pay only $5. Concessions will be available at the track! Race your friends or just
see what your ride can do! Save those timeslips...at the Show & Shine, we will be awarding trophies for Low ET, Highest MPH and best
Reaction Time!
2PM...Cruise Entrance Gates Open in Downtown Somerset for the Show & Shine!!!
This includes the special Mustang Alley area! All makes and model years of Mustangs only are welcomed to show their stuff in this
special Pony Corral! Last year, the 'stangs set the record for best turnout so, bring 'em out again and show those Mopar and Chevy
boys who's "Boss"!That awesome '08 Raffle Car, the hot red and black 1971 Big Block Chevy Chevelle will be onhand to check out
along with the GatorMade enclosed car trailer. Both will be given away in October and you can get your tickets at any show for only $5
each! You do not have to be present to win...don't worry, we'll call you!
At the Show & Shine, be sure to visit our official merchandise trailer for the brand new '08 t-shirts for adults and kids. In the Vendor
Alley, you can sample great food, check out vendor displays and shop for new performance and restoration parts. Don't forget to enter
your Team in the Corn-Hole Tournament held each month during the Show & Shine. Registration starts at 2:00PM and the first
cornbag is tossed at 4:30PM! Cost is $20 per team with the winners splitting the pot with a charity. It's definately a worthwhile cause
and lots of fun too!Want to get out of the downtown area and do alittle shopping? We offer a FREE, air-conditioned shuttlebus to and
from local shopping centers! You can catch it at the top of each hour just behind the Courthouse! Of course, there is always plenty to
see and do at SomernitesCruise! Stop by the DJ trailer and leave us a bumper sticker or dash plaque with your car club's name on it
and we will display it proudly in the trailer! You will enjoy the great cruisin' tunes all over town too!

We know it's one of the main reasons you come to SomernitesCruise so, get your car out on "the strip" and cruise! Thousands of
spectators waving and cheering from streetside! Lots of activities at businesses up and down the strip. Tune your radio to Q97.1FM for
great tunes and cruise the night away! There's plenty to see and do, just remember...we want to see you cruising your car or truck! If
you do stop to watch the cruising action from one of the many parking lots up and down the strip, please do not leave any garbage
when you cruise out. Help us keep 'the strip' clean!
6PM-10PM...Summer Sundown at Somerset Mall (stoplight #23)!
This is an awesome new FREE after-cruise event for you to check out! Planned highlights include a free rockabilly concert by Blair
Carmen & The Belleview Boys! So, bring your dancin' shoes and join the fun! There will be Special Reserved Parking for classic cars,
games, food, prizes and fun exhibits by the KY National Guard, Powerade and others! This is the kickoff of a fun new Somernites
tradition. You'll definately want to check it out! Visit our website and click on the "Cruise Events" button for all the details on upcoming
events listed by month.
It's going to be a great Summer of cruisin' fun at Somernites!
