| 2009 Hot Rod Power Tour |

| The Somernites Cruise is honored that Somerset was a stop on the 2009 Hot Rod Power Tour! Approx. 3000 HRPT participants invaded Somerset on Day 6 of the 2009 Hot Rod Power Tour and turned The Center For Rural Development and Somerset Community College into hotrod heaven for the day! The weather was a challenge but, by mid-afternoon the skies cleared and the sun put everyone in great spirits. We made alot of new friends and ran into some old ones. Whether they walked or rode the shuttle buses, a big crowd of spectators turned out to check out all the nice rides and Sponsor displays. The folks from Hot Rod Magazine and Family Events were fantastic to work with and we hope to do so again in the future. As darkness fell, everyone packed up or headed out to US 27 for alittle cruisin' before heading on to the final stop in Bristol. Thursday was a day that will be long remembered by the Somernites team and hopefully those on the Power Tour as well. Thursday, June the 11th was a fantastic day for both Somerset and the Somernites team. We have been working approx. 10 months to make sure the HRPT stop in our small town went off without a hitch. There is simply no way to properly thank everyone who helped pull this event off without leaving someone out so, we will simply say THANK YOU to all involved. As we like to say, keep on cruisin'! |
